Seán Óg Ó hAilpín doesn’t foresee new Cork hurling manager Ben O’Connor making too many changes to the set-up.
Despite suffering a crushing defeat to Tipperary in this year’s All-Ireland SHC final, the legendary Cork wing back is convinced the talent is already there for O’Connor to harness.
“From a player point of view, and even his coaching CV today, impeccable,” Ó hAilpín said of his former team-mate in an interview with The Echo.
“I don't think Ben will change an awful lot. That's my personal view, I think he'll just tweak a few things, you'll probably see one or two new names featuring next year, but the nucleus of guys that we've had for the last couple of years will be the same guys that we will be relying on.
“And they are good enough, I mean you don't contest two All-Ireland finals – albeit we didn't win it – but you don't get there without having good calibre players.
“What I'm trying to say is Ben will just tweak a few things, but I don't see him doing wholesale changes, because I don't think there needs to be huge wholesale changes.”
