Mick Dempsey has called time on six years as manager of Laois side St Joseph’s.
Brian Cody’s former right-hand man led his beloved club to a first Laois SFC title in 23 years in 2023. He also managed them to their previous Jack Delaney Cup triumph in 2000 and won six Laois SFC titles as a player as well as a National League medal with the O'Moore County in 1986.
Meanwhile, Turlough O’Brien is staying on as Portlaoise manager for a second season. ‘The Town’ suffered a shock Laois SFC quarter-final loss to Courtwood this year and will be eager to make amends in 2026.
O'Brien won five Carlow SFC titles as a player and five more as a manager of his home club Éire Óg, the most recent coming in 2023. He also managed the county team for six years, during which he led them to promotion to Division 3 of the Allianz League and a famous Leinster SFC victory over neighbours Kildare in 2018.
