Antóin McFadden has stepped down from his role as Head of Performance with Donegal’s senior footballers.

McFadden, who is a brother-in-law of Jim McGuinness, took on the role in March 2023 before going on to work under the current manager for three more years.

A former county senior and Sigerson Cup winner with DCU, the St Michael’s clubman confirmed his departure from the National League champions’ set-up yesterday.

“After four seasons with the Donegal Senior Footballers, I have made the decision to finish up in my role as Head of Performance,” McFadden posted on Instagram.

“It has been one of the biggest honours and privileges of my life to work with this team of players and support staff. I am incredibly grateful to have been part of this group and to have shared so many special moments throughout their journey over the past four years.

“I am proud of the Athletic Performance & Medical Framework we built over the past four seasons. I am hugely thankful to the support staff I had the privilege of working alongside, as well as the wider network of practitioners and experts we developed relationships with across athletic performance, rehabilitation and sports medicine. Those connections allowed us to continually challenge ourselves, learn and strive to provide the best possible support to our players.

“I wish the players, management and everyone involved with Donegal GAA every success for the future. I leave with great pride in what we built together, and with immense gratitude for the people and experiences that made the past four years so special.
