Seamus Flanagan and Shane Dowling won’t be a part of Limerick senior hurlers’ plans for the 2026 season, according to a report from the Irish Independent on Monday.
Five-time All-Ireland winner Flanagan has been cut from the Treaty County’s squad by manager John Kiely, while goalkeeper Shane Dowling has opted to step away from the fold after Nickie Quaid’s return from a cruciate injury.
Flanagan was omitted from the panel for the team’s Allianz League clash against Tipperary in February following a striking incident on Cork’s Niall O'Leary and the Feohanagh-Castlemahon clubman would see limited game time under Kiely for the rest of the season.
It’s also been reported that Jason Gillane, Micheál Houlihan, Fergal O'Connor and Cian Scully have been released from the panel ahead of the 2026 campaign.
Last week saw Declan Hannon announcing his retirement from the inter-county game after a 15-year career in which he became hurling's most decorated team captain.
