Last Saturday’s scheduled Laois PIHC semi-final between Rathdowney/Errill and Mountmellick was postponed after an appeal was lodged with the DRA (Disputes Resolution Authority).

Colt/Shanahoe took a case to the arbitrary body after their recent quarter-final against Rathdowney/Errill was blown up early. In shades of the infamous 1998 All-Ireland SHC semi-final between Offaly and Clare, referee Patrick Phelan mistakenly blew for full-time in the 58th minute. Rathdowney/Erill were leading 2-22 to 1-15 at the time, which initially led to a replay being granted to Colt/Shanahoe.

That was due to take place last Sunday week, but it didn’t go ahead after Rathdowney/Errill successfully appealed the decision to the Laois Hearings Committee. That prompted Colt/Shanahoe to bring their case to the DRA in the latest twist to the ongoing saga.
