As one of the previous posters mentioned, game in ballybofey next sunday, and all of the connaught and midlands crowd heading home the same way after the rally, itll be the worst traffic jam ballybofey has ever seen. Plus, in my oppinion they should do the draws on the sunday game, most of the fans will be tuned in anyway and everyone would vet to see it. Who the hell will be listening to morning ireland at 8.30am on a monday morning.... gaeltacht81 (Donegal) - Posts: 13 - 15/06/2025 22:41:30 2617951 Link 1 |
Did you boys forfeit anymore games recently?

It should not be on Monday. They should have draws made this evening and time and dates confirmed to allow for the prep. Sligo got a bit of a raw deal with the Sunday to Saturday in the tailteann cup. At least it wasn't a crazy distance but it was hardly fair. And then they were off drawing the round robin groups before the provincials were complete.... God help a team trying to get accomodation. I see john haran is offering tents at st eunans. It's only half a joke.... Anyhow it won't be cork next week so.. Ulsterchamps_32 (Donegal) - Posts: 863 - 15/06/2025 22:46:30 2617956 Link 0 |
Paddy's miss was a foot block and we should have had a penalty. We did enough to win the match and get a home match next week. That's all that matters

Great win yesterday...I listened to gaa spokesman this morning.. said that breffni was not available (there was a match on it the evening before). Excluding carrick on Shannon and Sligo, there wasn't a venue equidistant from both Mayo or Donegal (with the capacity for the game yesterday). Roscommon may have been the best case venue for the game. At least we avoided Galway this morning. Hopefully we can go into the match fresh v louth and play as well as we can. Delighted and relieved to get a win yesterday to get home advantage next weekend, it wasn't a perfect performance from Donegal by any means, but I think that was partly due to the intensity that Mayo brought. It was the type of test we needed, I think the win will bring this group of players on that bit further. Commodore (Donegal) - Posts: 1378 - 16/06/2025 09:29:54 2618067 Link 0 |
Well what do we make of the draw? Without wanting to sound disrespectful to Louth, I think it's the best we could have hoped for. If we can win that, it's Monaghan/Meath in the quarter finals. Not easy by any means, but the less difficult route to a semi final on paper I would say. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9812 - 16/06/2025 09:38:04 2618075 Link 0 |
I should have known Jason would be ok considering the same source that told me he was in trouble also had Paddy McBrearty retired a couple of years ago! Dúirt bean liom gur dúirt bean léi, I'll not contribute to stupid rumours in future

Whilst I agree that we were fairly hard done by regarding the venue and travel times, the same applied to Galway and Kerry (and others) and they didn't moan about it. McGuinness was in the media last week saying he didn't want to play in Croke Park, now he's complaining about Hyde Park. GAA man on radio this morning explaining that other venues were not available and went in to considerable detail, detail that Jim will have been aware of. Yet McGuinness, in his wisdom decided to draw more attention to it in some sort of strange attempt to start a siege mentality. I found it very ill-judged. Yes fully agree. We should be winning next weekend at home and if we can stay fresh, avoid new injuries then we should be able to give either Meath or Monaghan a titanic rattle in the 1/4. You would have taken it to get to a semi final at the start of the year. Louth will be our 8th game so we have deserved some fortune in the draw. In saying that, they're Leinster Champions for a reason, they pushed us hard last year in the 1/4 final so we have to be on it next weekend as they're under no pressure in terms of expectations. We are.

Good win but we need more from certain players. Murphy immense again. Wee question just asking for a friend bonner and Gallagher were slated for playing murphy out around midfield but he's still there now and a few years older but not a peep about it. So the reason all managers play him there is because that's where he is more important to the team. Louth next it's just a game we have to get through without injuries to set us up for the croker trip. No disrespect to louth who have done fabulous but we'll have too much for them in ballybofey. rorysboys (Donegal) - Posts: 2630 - 16/06/2025 10:13:07 2618100 Link 1 |
Good to avoid Galway but the leinster champs won't be easy. No easy games left at this stage now. We've seen big shocks already Meath beating Kerry, Cavan beating Mayo. Can't take our eyes off the next game. Hopefully we hear some positive news regarding McMonagle soon, massive player for us. FootballGuy (Donegal) - Posts: 270 - 16/06/2025 10:30:57 2618108 Link 1 |
It's not as if Murphy is playing in the middle for the whole game, with the 3 up rule players are taking turns staying up/going back. I guess as long as the team keeps winning no one is bashing any manager. We have back to back Ulster titles, a semi final last year and who knows what else may come out way this year. Need to enjoy the good times while they last.

Yeah Louth looked to be a wee bit gassed yesterday, and Clare got a bit too close for comfort to them. I'd be thinking the same. We'll show them the respect that Leinster champions deserve surely. But if we are at it, with a good home crowd behind us, we should be winning it. Murphy is defying logic at this stage. An outstanding footballer and competitor. Lets jsut enjoy watching him play in the green and gold for as long as we can, no matter the positon he plays in. Lockjaw (Donegal) - Posts: 9812 - 16/06/2025 10:41:42 2618117 Link 1 |
Delighted with the win considering I think we would all agree that there is more to come from the team. Mayo have been a side we couldn't get past since 2012 so it's great to get over the line against them. I think for all the areas to work on and players maybe that you would want a bit more out of yesterday, there were 2 periods of the game that I think we showed we were the better side overall. That is the black card period and then immediately after the Mayo goal. We managed both times very well after being knocked back and maybe momentum with Mayo, and they are a huge momentum side so they can be hard to stop when they get a run. I thought both those periods we managed very well and showed our character. CCFabu (Donegal) - Posts: 204 - 16/06/2025 10:43:17 2618119 Link 1 |
In so many respects I really liked the Hyde yesterday. The have done a lot of nice work on the stand. There's loads of room around it..the side terrace is a great view of a match. It lends itself to a really good atmosphere. I did get in and queue to get a good seat and it was worth it. It just meant getting there a little earlier than I needed to be. There was a great Donegal crowd down and fair play to the fans. There's been some pile of matches this year. This match was always going to be in the Hyde and that's the bit the grates a bit. Clones could easily have been an option, just swap the Monaghan group matches with the Kerry group. But that was never going to happen. Hyde was a good venue for the game given capacity needs and Sligo not being available. suckvalleypaddy (Galway) - Posts: 1749 - 16/06/2025 10:51:17 2618124 Link 0 |
Agreed. Need to just get on with it. I wonder will they make match Saturday night. Only 6 day turnaround but will be same for both teams. Could benefit us if we win for the following week if we get a Sunday game. Donegal v Meath and Armagh v Kerry would be a nice double bill for the Sunday. Galway v Monaghan and Dublin v Tyrone on Saturday. I suppose we better worry about beating Louth first. Who will be tasked with shutting down Mulroy? McCole or bring someone else back to watch him. Stop him will go long way to beating them. shaggykev (Donegal) - Posts: 370 - 16/06/2025 10:52:18 2618125 Link 0 |
It seems that anything that is said about Jason nowadays you should believe the opposite.

The CCC chairman who is from Roscommon trying to explain why the game was in Roscommon. You couldn't make it up.Going by our experiences of how decisions are made regarding Donegal people in all walks of life we all could have predicted that the game would be there. As McGuinness said it would never be contemplated that Mayo would be taken to Omagh which would be the same to them as Roscommon was to us.We were passing within 15 miles of Co Mayo on the way to the match.I suppose you are one of the people who would say it is fair that Donegal people have to travel to Galway and Sligo for hospital procedures . Jim is absolutely right to speak out on behalf of the people of Donegal
