Draw would have been a fair result as you said, Colmcille guilty of messing about with it in the last few minutes when they needed to get up the field. A great game.

Shoutout to slashers ladies also, they are a remarkable team. I don't believe Clonguish are as poor as they were at the weekend but trying to play slashers at their own game as a mad call. Slashers won the championship without even having to step it up a level this year BallWatching (Longford) - Posts: 23 - 13/10/2025 08:16:18 2639649 Link 0 |

What do you mean trying to play them at their own game? Did Clonguish go 15 on 15, try to match them physically or what was their setup?

It's well known that I am from Tarmon, as I have previously stated on here many times.. I saw what was done on my way into Longford town at the weekend. No need for carry on like that. Oddball (Roscommon) - Posts: 984 - 13/10/2025 14:26:49 2639762 Link 0 |

Colmcille must be fairly sick of it. Between the last 10 seconds of the last 2 county finals they could be heading into next year going for a 3 in a row and instead they have nothing. Fine margins but could be a job to pick it up again. I see in an interview Carbery did before the final that he's off overseas for 6 months so not sure what tha means from a trainer perspective. He deserves a lot of credit because as a team they never seem to be expected to get near to winning anything but have been very close. I think last year he was overseas and missed most of the league. I think Ryan Casey took up the training until he got back. It doesn't matter for next year anyway, as he finished up as Colmcille manager after the final on Sunday. Unfortunately, they bottled it again just like last year in the final. I really thought they would have learned from last year and go on to win it.

Very harsh to say they bottled it, killoe missed goal chances and were better on the day. Ryan Casey in for the 20's job, I personally wouldn't give it to him.

Great weekend for the Killoe club. Winning a senior-junior double is rare, but winning the Junior c as well in the same year is a big achievement for any club. Didn't expect Killoe to be in the final this year (very ordinary in the league, struggled for long periods against Carrickedmond and Granard in group stage), but got there regardless, and with Colmcille it was always going to be a close final. Both sides blew it a number of times in the last 10, but fair play to the Killoe lads for doing enough to get the win. Daniel Mimnagh still in top form at 32! It is crazy to say Colmcille bottled it. They put up a brave display against the red hot favourites and could have snuck it. Killoe were the better team and most worryingly for the rest of the county is how young that squad still is. They won the final without Larry Moran and Paddy Kiernan was only introduced late on. Poor mouthing about league and group form was just that. They played the whole year until the knock out stages with half a team. Fully deserved the junior title too, should have won by much more. No complaints liosbreac6265 (Longford) - Posts: 275 - 15/10/2025 12:53:38 2640118 Link 0 |

Very harsh with the word 'bottled it' They were pippped at the post in 2 finals against the better side on the day. Your own club for all their talent could be accused of bottling it on the big day. Racking up scores in the group stages and freeze when they reach Pearse Park. Killoe staggered through the group matches and came to life when they reached Pearse Park. OK They are a team for the big occasion. Never lost a Senior final. Wasn't aware of that until I read it recently B&G (Longford) - Posts: 409 - 15/10/2025 17:08:46 2640179 Link 0 |

They lost to Ardagh by a point in 1987. Brendan Lennon even though on the losing side got MOTM.

Well done to Killoe on winning the Connolly cup (not sure how I'm only the second person here to say it). Winning 3 adult championships in 1 weekend is a serious achievement and something for other clubs to look at and try to emulate. Well done to Slashers on their 2 big wins for the Hurlers and Ladies, and also to Dromard on the Junior B. Hard luck to all those on the wrong side of the results in all those. Some good football played across the weekend but I must say the 1st half of the senior was poor. The 2nd have livened up a lot, Killoe could have scored a lot more but Colmcille stuck with it and could easily have sneaked it. Hopefully the celebrations go on long into the week, that is what winning is about. botheyesclosed (Longford) - Posts: 138 - 16/10/2025 09:41:16 2640242 Link 0 |

When did we rack up big scores? Against Rathcline maybe, but still were beaten We didn't get to play in Pearse Park. We won the last final we played in Pearse Park, so that is hardly bottling it now!! Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1412 - 16/10/2025 10:49:35 2640257 Link 0 |

Winning multiple championships in the one year has been done several times in the past!

Another club now to add to my name lol, that's Gaels, Clonguish, Killoe, Slashers and now Colmcille!!! If you don't know, people are allowed to mix and talk to people outside their parish!! You should try it, broaden your horizons! Spinx (Longford) - Posts: 1412 - 16/10/2025 13:35:07 2640294 Link 0 |

That's correct. I think that I read it in the Longford Leader that they never lost a County Final.

Your own club has done it. Dominated at underage for the past number of years. Is it minor 5 or 6 in a row but cannot translate that to senior yet
