Replying To giveitlong:  "Sligo not getting enough credit for yesterday. They may be DIV 3 team but less than 10 months ago, played in the qualifiers where Kildare beat Ross but only drew with Sligo. The games they had V Galway, Dubs, Ross and Kildare have brought then on loads and they were unlucky not to come up. The question now is, how much store will PJ and Kevin put on winning Connacht to avoid Dublin, Kerry and possibly Donegal in the group stage. I think they will both go All In to win Connacht."
The last 4 Galway/Mayo Connacht Finals have been won by Mayo. Galway haven't had a win in this specific fixture since 2008. PJ played in that one.

He's a couple of weeks away yet I think, so I doubt it.

Well, most are writing us off and not giving us a hope vs Mayo in the Connacht Final. And on the basis of what we saw in Sligo, it's hard to see any outcome other than a convincing win for Mayo. Only the lads can answer all the doubters and naysayers. It's a test of their guts and character and their pride in the old maroon and white. I'm just begging them for a response. We cannot lose to the green and red again; it's as simple as that. Man up. Own that proud jersey and don't get bullied by them yet again. Just win the bloody thing.

I doubt it even though he was kicking a ball about on the pitch at the weekend.

2008 the last year Galway beat Mayo in Connacht final. 2005 the last year Galway beat Mayo in Connacht final in Salthill. 2014 the last time there was a Connacht final between Galway and Mayo with no crowd restrictions.

Yes its not looking good at this stage that Galway can beat Mayo in Salthill. History is against it I'm afraid and the team are not in good shape.

I'd imagine if it was a league game, or London etc he would get game time but going into a game of this intensity as a first outing might be dangerous. Unless he has some minutes in him from challenge games but to my knowledge he hasn't yet.

Even against Sligo you could see Walsh didn't have the gas to keep going and brilliant and all as Comer was when he came on, I am not sure how much more was left in him. They will definitely improve over next couple of weeks.

This is a must win game. I think a wing back has been MOTM last few times so we need pace and we need to stop that HB line from launching attacks. That's the only area Mayo concern me. I think we can handle O'Shea, O'Donoghue, Conroy.
Our midfield was second best against Sligo so again need a big one and probably Maher back.
Any win we have recently also, we've nailed all the frees/45s.
It's not a rivalry if one team is winning all the time so we need this one. I'm hoping the 2 weeks sharpen Walsh and Comer and Finnerty looked on form at the weekend so that could get us over the line

I feel Padraig Joyce is starting 2 turn into a Davy Burke looking for excuses and then blaming the players when In reality the management have take most of blame it's them that are putting out same lads who are not performing and won't in a Connacht final either time for management to make the big decisions or just write this year off again , in 5 years kickouts still poor loose majority in every match and that won't change unless goalie is changed which won't happen , in fairness he has improved in most other parts of his. Game but kicouts are a lottery , John Daly very poor this year in most games at center back needs be changed , Paul conroy kicks most ball away than any player ,, sub at best , o conaghaile 2 games v London division 4 team Sligo div 3 team no score , in few years maybe good enough not now Jack McCabe same not good enough yet ,, not playing Rory Cunningham who score 1-03 v Monaghan 1 point v dubs and got fouled for tap over free , time almost up for Joyce unles he makes the big calls which he has failed to do in 5 years ,,

Can Galway really handle O'Shea, O'Donoghue and Conroy? Perhaps 1 (or at most 2) but not all 3 from the games I have seen in recent years. O'Donoghue in particular loves to play in Galway games as he gets space to do what he likes. McGrath who is Galway's best man marker will probably pick him up.

What a crowd of moaners, groaners and whingers on this forum. The constant complaining and negativity from people who probably were useless at sport themselves, would depress decent, positive, upbeat followers of our fine football team. People on here who are not fit to lace Padraig Joyce's boots, giving their half-baked and idiotic opinions, God help us.

Gleeson stands for the Anthem and repeats the same thing before every kick out instead of grabbing a spare ball and getting it out to a defender who should be coming back for it. Padraic is starting those young fella's in the full forward line who don't score so only for Comer and Finnerty we were in serious trouble.
We do too many side and back passe's instead of running towards the goal like Mcgrath and Heaney. Brings me back to my youth when we used have slow bicycle race, the last finisher win's the race. Hopefully better the next day.
