Dublin interim manager Dean Rock was delighted with the “hunger and desire” his side demonstrated in yesterday evening’s Leinster SFC semi-final win against Louth.

The Dubs dethroned their Wee County counterparts of the Delaney Cup with a convincing 0-20 to 0-10 victory in Portlaoise, where Cormac Costello starred for the capital men with 0-10 over the 70 minutes.

Speaking to RTE Sport afterwards, Rock hailed what he described as “resilient bunch of players”.

"Throughout the National League we were looking for that consistency and the lads were well aware of that," he said.

"There was a big emphasis and a push to match Louth's energy at the start of the second half, to rise it to a different level. That's what the lads did and they responded to the call from the management team, controlling the game in the second half.

"These lads are a resilient bunch of players and we have the utmost faith in them, we see their ability week in, week out, and I think it was then a question of mastering that consistency across four quarters, which we did for the most part today. That was the most pleasing thing today, to give the lads the confidence to see out games.

"The carrot today was getting to a Leinster final and as a kid growing you want to represent Dublin in Croke Park in Leinster finals and other big days."
