Carryduff became the second team through to the last eight of the Down SFC when seeing off Glenn.

Mourne County attacker James McGuinness fired eight points during Friday night’s 3-17 to 0-12 Round 2A victory at Liatroim.

Ronan Beatty’s 22nd-minute major had ‘the Duff’ ahead by 1-8 to 0-8 at the interval and John McGeough and Tom McCarroll added further goals during a more one-sided second half.

On Thursday night, Warrenpoint were pushed all the way by last year’s intermediate champions Drumgath, who are in their first year playing senior football, battling to a 1-15 to 1-12 victory in a tense finale at Burren.

While Warrenpoint and Carryduff will be in Monday night’s quarter-final draw, Glenn and Drumgath go into the Round Three draw which grants them a second opportunity of reaching the last eight.

The outstanding Round 2A fixtures will see Burren and Loughinisland cross swords at Hilltown on Sunday before neighbours Kilcoo and Clonduff do battle in Páirc Esler on Monday night.
