Wicklow GAA has led the tributes to a young footballer from Barndarrig who was laid to rest at the weekend.

Patrick ‘Paddy’ O’Doherty was a student at Atlantic Technological University in Galway who was also a talented soccer player with Arklow Town. He is survived by his parents Pius and Maude, and siblings Grace and Mikey.

“Wicklow GAA extends its deepest sympathies to the family, friends, and clubmates of the late Paddy O’Doherty, Barndarrig GAA,” a county board statement read.

“Paddy was a proud Barndarrig man who played the game with heart, passion, and an infectious spirit that lifted those around him. On and off the field, he was known for his warmth, energy, and the countless memories he created with teammates and friends throughout the years.

“His loss is deeply felt, not only in Barndarrig but right across the Wicklow GAA community.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the O’Doherty family, and all who knew and loved Paddy during this difficult time.

“Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.”

Barndarrig GAA said: “It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Paddy O’Doherty.
