Intermediate Championship Predictions

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Group A

Trim are hot favorites to take Bective own with Drumbaragh going into relegation play off

Group B

Two straight shootouts here to qualify for semis and to avoid relegation, St Michael's to scrape through as Walterstown will be without two vey key players unless they contest the red cards, St pats should just have enough to send Moylough into relegation battle

Group C

Kilmainham have showed great character and have been the real surprise package so far and with Castletown as their last opponents and already in the relegation playoff i think they should prevail comfortably as the daddies will be planning for the play offs and this game is of no benefit to them, any of their squad struggling with injuries etc will be held back for the dreaded relegation battle

Group D

Both Dullek/Bellewstown and Syddan will be hoping that Oldcastle can get their first win of the campaign to leave their game a straight shootout however like Castletown they should be now concentrating on the relegation play offs and not taking much risks with their important players.
Bracks to go through with Oldcastle already in relegation battle

Group E

Who wants to call this Group, two straight shootout games that can go easily either way but i have to try make a call on it so i will say Meath hill to just pip an up and coming clann na gael team and Longwood to just avoid the relegation BUT as i said it could easily go the opposite ways.

I know winners of D & E play in quarters but anyone know which way the semis are lined up ?

I cant seem to find it anywhere on website

Eh Blackhall are a very average intermediate team and were never in the top 5 the last 3 years

Gonna be a very interesting last weekend in some groups regarding going through and avoiding relegation play offs

Anyone any idea what way the semis are ? I know winners of d & e play in quarter final but then who meets who ?"
Lutch I believe A vs C and B vs Winner of D vs E is the layout and it's the same for relegation playoffs. Trim vs Kilmainham is already a fixture for 1 semi final as I believe they cannot be caught in their perspective groups. Castletown already confirmed bottom of their group and will play what's looking like Drumbaragh I think. Could be wrong on the above but pretty sure that's what it's looking like.

I draw the line though at lads slagging off clubs as poor teams when they've no clue about the clubs they are slagging off."
Fair enough but I do believe both sides are poor and while Kilmainham are now in Semis unless they have made serious improvement they wont progress. Its hard to judge teams as noone can go to games with the Club ticket rules so I give my opinions mainly for the crack.

Anyway 9 out of 10 in IFC isnt too bad.........6 out of 8 in SFC and all JFC correct ... happy enough

In fairness Glenny you did a fine job on second round predictions, you know much more than me anyways!

Group A
Hard to see Trim slip up as they appear to be playing well. Should Bective beat them and Drumbaragh upset Rathkenny then Bective could top group. If Bective and Rathkenny win Rathkenny could slip through ....At least there is something no matter how slim to play for.

Group B
Winner of Michaels v Waltersown to top group a draw will do the Michaels. With same at bottom again a draw good enough for Pats.

Group C
This group has 2 dead rubbers as Kilmainham will top and Castletown in Relegation. Even if Kilmainham lose they through on head to head over Dunderry and Blackhall

Group D
Bracks made a big push to top Group but they need to beat Oldcastle who have nothing to play for. Should Bracks slip up then Duleek look sure to fill top spot. should Bracks and Duleek slip up Syddan can sneak in. Reckon Bracky wont allow any messing as Oldcastle face relegation.

Group E
Two big Round 3 games as winners take all with draws to suit Clan na Gael and Longwood

Quarter Final Ballinabrackey v Meath Hill

Not sure of how it goes in Semis but maybe
Trim V Bracks
Michaels V Kilmainham

Relegation hard to call but hows this for a stab
Oldcastle v Ballinlough loser v Drumbaragh
Moylagh v Castletown

Big North Meath games !!!!!!!!!

All to win

Kilmainham playing very well this year after beating Dunderry and Blackhall two teams they wouldn't have been favored against and wouldn't have bet in other years. I think they have a great chance of making the knockouts and they might go one further. Many clubs can win the Intermediate it's a very open championship on any given year.

Kilmainham are already through. Group C is all dead rubbers this weekend.

I believe it was called off due to a bereavement on the Kilmainham side. Probably won't be played at all now

No. The father of one of the KIlmainham players passed away. May he rest in peace.

Trim have a very good chance of winning the intermediate this year very poor In the final last year but this year they might have gained experience from that and go one better

the IFC relegation will be some competition whoever goes down will be a very strong Junior side. Ballinlough, Castletown, Drumbaragh, Oldcastle and the Pats ...... Results so far dictate its between Castletown and Oldcastle

I wouldn't agree with that. It will certainly be competitive but whoever gets relegated will have likely lost 3 group games and two relegation play offs (3 if Oldcastle or Ballinlough) so they dont belong in intermediate.

Looking at how well Athboy and Moylagh have acquitted themselves in intermediate this year, the team who goes down will have a job on their hands coming straight back up.

Good feeling for the Bracks but the two handy wins will do nothing for them as Tom Hanleys young bucks face up to them. Clan where slow starters v Meath Hill but credit where credit is due figured out a disappointing Hill outfit who ran out of ideas once Plan A was thwarted. Think Ballinabrackey will do enough once they keep their heads but that is not always certain sure.

The winners here to face Michaels who somehow got over the now usual soft centered Walterstown outfit. Oh how the Club elders must be crying out or a bit of the old old Walterstown to stand up. Mikes must feel they have a great chance but I think if Bracks squeeze through then a semi final in Mikes limit.

Cant see Trim slip up v Kilmainham. Kilmainham seem to have benefited from the short sharp style and with Micky Newman anything is possible but Trim look likely to learn from last years Final collapse to make amends this year

So Olde castle did the bizz last week nice crowd watching from the side road in Moylagh. Blew Ballinlough away in 1st quarter and led 1-6 to ziltch. Reverted to cute tactics after that and allowed a poor Ballinlough side a glimmer of hope in added time when they got their goal. Reckon it be some dung when they play Pats two old former Senior teams slipping down both could win the moaney championship. Toss up who will win. Maybe Pats

Cant really believe Castletown are where they are but then again was it 2018 when they played relegation last so in the competition that is the IFC where a clap on the back is about a foot away from a kick in the axxe maybe not surprising. Maybe they have got the ship straightened with the break but I fancy Drumbaragh to nick it

I think Pats are in a spot of bother and are my favourites to go down,
Bracks Trim final that will be a toss of a coin and will be on the Day, Two best teams in it in fairness

Trim V Kilmainham - Got to go with Trim here. They are flying this year.

St Michaels V Bracks - Most probably the better of the two games. Think the Bracks will have enough to win this one.

Trim v Kilmainham - Think it will be close till midway into the 2nd half and i suspect Trims depth in terms of numbers and quality off the bench will be the difference, Kilmainham have played some decent stuff up to now but think the big navan pitch will provide trim with too much room - Trim by 5

Bracks vs Michaels - This is a hard one to call as think it will be closer than people think and can see it going to the wire. Bracks by a single score

In the final if Trim can put last years woes behind them they should be good enough to take it all. Hurling escapades could weigh heavily on them by the time a final comes around. Would have to think they are best placed to go up and stay up next year.

Trim by an easy 8 points plus
Bracks by 6 pts plus
Both senior matches should be tighter
Go for Vincents v Ballivor Junior final
