Cullyhanna moved into the last four of the Armagh senior football championship thanks to a 3-17 to 0-19 win over St Peter’s after extra time at the Box-It Athletic Grounds last night.

Jason Duffy’s coolly taken goal in the opening stages of the game had given Stephen Reel’s the perfect start under lights at the Armagh Town venue, but it was St Peter’s that would go on to edge a 0-9 to 1-5 lead come half-time thanks in part to the expert free taking of Niall McConville.

The Saints would increase their lead to five after the change of ends and eventually bumped it up to eight prior to Cullyhanna battling back and forcing extra time, with the full-time score reading 1-13 to 0-16.

After that, a goal from Neil McCreesh was backed up by a long range effort from county man Ross McQuillan ending up in the back of the St Peter’s net as Cullyhanna progressed with seven to spare in the end.

Next up in the Armagh SFC quarter-finals is the meeting of Crossmaglen Rangers and Carrickcuppen this evening (6.30pm) ahead of tomorrow’s last eight clashes between Maghery and Madden (5pm) and Clann Eireann and Killeavy (7pm). All games are set to be played at the Box-It Athletic Grounds.
