Cavan and New York will battle it out for the Lory Meagher Cup at Croke Park next weekend after the latter cruised past Monaghan in Mullingar this afternoon.
It finished 1-29 to 2-13 at TEG Cusack Park, where the Exiles hit the ground running in what was their first game of the campaign by netting an early goal and going on to hold a 1-11 to 0-6 lead at the end of the first-half.
Richie Hartnett's side kept the points coming after the change of ends and the scoreline would read 1-24 to 0-10 when Shane Slevin fired in Monaghan’s first goal in the 59th minute.
The Farney men went on to bag another major before the finish, but it only proved to be consolation as their opponents advanced comfortably here.
The result means New York are now set to face Cavan in the competition’s decider next Saturday, May 31st, with throw-in at headquarters scheduled for 3pm.
