Ronan Maher is expected to be sidelined for the rest of the year after breaking his ankle in a weekend club game.
Tipp FM is reporting that the 2025 Tipperary All-Ireland SHC-winning captain suffered the injury while playing for Thurles Sarsfields in a challenge match against De La Salle from Waterford on Saturday. Maher has already undergone surgery on the injury.
Tipperary's Liam MacCarthy Cup defence ended last month, but the injury is a devastating blow to Sarsfields’ hopes of regaining the Dan Breen Cup this year. Maher previously suffered a leg break in 2022 that forced him to miss most of Tipp’s campaign that year.
