Tom Shine would go on to tally a dozen points for the visitors, with a late Padraig Doyle goal from a free proving consolation for Wicklow who slipped to their second loss of the campaign.
In the Nickey Rackard Cup, Mayo cruised past Fermanagh (3-24 to 1-12) in Enniskillen to get their second win of the competition.
The Westerners were 0-5 to 0-4 up when Ryan Duffy registered their first goal in the 20th minute and another major from Fionn Delaney, who finished with 1-9, would help them to get comfortably over the line.
Sligo also got their second victory in the fourth tier by handing Armagh a 3-28 to 2-15 defeat in Tubbercurry.
The hosts’ goals came from Paul O’Brien, Robert O’Kelly-Lynch and Patrick Walsh while talisman Andrew Kilcullen contributed 0-12 over the 70 minutes.
In the Lory Meagher Cup, last year’s runners up Cavan defeated Lancashire by 3-16 to 2-15 in the early throw-in at Páirc na hÉireann.
Ollie Bellew’s side had trailed by 1-5 to 0-3 after 20 minutes, but goals either side of half-time by Mark Moffett and Shane Briody lifted them and Daniel Martin's goal would propel them in front prior to the points of Moffett, Gavin Fitzpatrick and Martin seeing them over the line.
The later game at the Birmingham venue saw Warwickshire picking up their first win of the campaign at the expense of Monaghan as it finished 2-18 to 0-16 in favour of the Exiles, while Leitrim were 1-19 to 1-16 winners over Longford in the derby in Carrick-on-Shannon.
Longford had edged a 1-11 to 0-13 half-time lead before Gavin O’Hagan’s goal in the first minute of the restart surged the home side in front and the margin between the sides would remain close until two late frees from Colm Canning secured the win for the Connacht men.
