Donegal boss Jim McGuinness says there’s plenty for his side to work on after picking up maximum points from their first two outings in the Allianz Football League.
The Ulster champions saw off Kerry in yesterday’s Division 1 clash in Ballyshannon, where it finished 1-22 to 1-18, with Daire Ó Baoill netting on the half-hour mark for the home side.
Speaking to RTE Sport afterwards, McGuinness looked at both the positives and negatives of his team’s performance against the All-Ireland champions.
"Happy to get the points, I suppose, and we played well in a lot of areas today, but then in the second-half, Kerry became very dominant on their own kickout," said the Glenties.
"I think they maybe won every one of them in the second-half. So definitely work to be done there and I wouldn't be happy with our discipline as well. We gave away a lot of free-kicks in scoreable areas.
"We'd be happy with a lot of it but the goal was very disappointing. The free-kicks are disappointing. And the opposition kick-outs, they are three areas definitely that you wouldn't be happy with at all today, particularly in the second half. I suppose from that point of view, that can have a big impact on the scoreboard. Those three metrics can have a big impact on the scoreboard.
"But as you say, a lot of lads played well outside of that, if you like."
