St Brigid’s edged out Moycullen by 1-16 to 1-14 at Dr Hyde Park this afternoon to claim their sixth Connacht club senior football championship crown.
The Roscommon champions recovered from the concession of an early Fiachra McDonagh goal to record their second Shane McGettigan Cup success in three years.

Having trailed by three points with 10 minutes to go on the first-half, Anthony Cunningham’s men rattled off points through Ben O’Carroll and Conor Hand, with McDonagh shooting one over at the other end before Hand’s two-pointer left it at 0-8 to 1-5 for the break.
Brian Derwin nudged St Brigid’s in front for the first time a minute into the second-half, but the Galway champions would go back up by three with scores from Niall Walsh, Dessie Conneely (two-pointer) and McDonagh.
Cunningham’s charges got it level again and hit the front through a Paul McGrath point before falling behind once more and then hitting the jackpot in the 56th minute.
Points from David Wynne and Conneely were wiped out by Ruaidhrí Fallon’s coolly taken goal and an O’Carroll free in injury-time would cement the triumph for St Brigid’s who now march on to the All-Ireland club SFC semi-finals.
