Kilruane MacDonaghs manager Thomas Williams says his team are delighted to be back in the business end of the Tipperary senior hurling championship as they seek their first Dan Breen Cup success since in three years.

A 3-19 to 3-15 win against Kiladangan last weekend sees them back in the quarter-finals this Sunday when they are set to face neighbours Nenagh Eire Og at FBD Semple Stadium (4pm).

It’s one of four quarter-finals taking place in the Premier County this weekend, with holders Toomevara and Loughmore/Castleiney also set to meet (see fixtures below), and Williams says he isn’t concerned about the quick turnaround for his group.

“It’s imperative that we get the recovery in, it’s a short turnaround but we had the two-week break to now,” Williams told TippFM after Sunday’s four-point win.

“We are back in the stage we were last year (lost last year’s quarter-final to Loughmore/Castleiney) and I think we let it slip ourselves, we know that ourselves that that game was there for the taking and maybe there was a couple of mistakes.

“We are delighted to get back there and maybe put our own stamp on the championship this year and rectify what happened last year and give a good account of ourselves.”
