An American team who took part in last weekend’s Féile Peile na nÓg in Derry footed turf as part of their preparations!
Whether it was by accident or design, the Chicago Celts U15 boys’ team ended up in Clooninagh Bog near Corofin in Co. Galway after playing the locals in a match last week. And the extra bit of exercise didn’t seem to do them any harm as they went on to contest the Division 5 Plate final, only to lose to Ballerin of Derry on a 3-1 to 3-6 scoreline.
“Don't know if the boys signed up for a day in the bog. What doesn't kill you will only make you stronger!” read a post on the Chicago Celts Facebook page.
