Kelly appointed new Tipp minor hurling boss

Former Tipperary All-Ireland winning captain Eoin Kelly has been appointed as the county’s new minor hurling manager.

Kelly, who captained the Premier County to All-Ireland glory in 2010, brings extensive experience from a number of senior inter-county and club environments.

The Mullinahone clubman has been involved with both the Tipp and Waterford senior hurling teams in recent years, while also playing an active role with CJ Kickhams Mullinahone.

Tipperary county board said Kelly’s experience and knowledge of the game will prove invaluable in his new role.

“That level of experience, combined with his knowledge of Tipperary hurling and his understanding of what is required to perform at the highest level, will be invaluable as he takes on responsibility for the county's Minor Hurling team,” read a statement from Tipperary GAA.

“The Minor grade represents an important stage in the development of young Tipperary hurlers and Eoin will place a strong emphasis on helping players develop both individually and collectively, while preparing them for the demands of inter-county hurling.

“Tipperary GAA would also like to thank all those who expressed an interest in the position and submitted applications. The quality and calibre of the applicants reflected the strong level of commitment to the development of Tipperary hurling and Tipperary GAA appreciates the time and effort involved in the process.

“Eoin's management team will be confirmed and announced in due course,” the statement concluded.
