Former Louth sharpshooter Darren Clarke has been appointed manager of Meath football giants Navan O’Mahonys.
The St Mary’s, Ardee clubman represented his county from 2004 and 2014, and was part of the Wee County’s ladies football management in 2024. Twenty-time Meath senior football champions, O’Mahony’s narrowly avoided the unthinkable prospect of dropping down to junior football for the first time since 1949 last year, just 12 months after they had come so close to returning to the top-flight when losing the IFC final to Meath Hill after extra-time.
“We are delighted to announce Darren Clarke as our adult men’s football manager for 2026,” the Paddy O’Brien Park outfit said in a social media post.
“Darren brings a wealth of club and county experience as both a player and a manager. The players and club as a whole are really looking forward to working with him.”
