Leitrim SFC semi-final pairings confirmed

The Leitrim SFC semi-final draw has taken place.

Holders Leitrim Gaels will face Fenagh St Caillins with last year’s runners-up Ballinamore Sean O’Heslin’s meeting Mohill in the other semi-final. In last weekend’s quarter-finals, Ballinamore eased to a 2-15 to 0-10 victory over Allen Gaels, while Fenagh St Caillins overcame St Mary's Kiltoghert by 0-16 to 0-11 to join Mohill and Leitrim Gaels, who qualified directly for the last-four by virtue of topping their group.

Paul Honeyman bagged 2-6 for Ballinamore who were boosted by the return of Michael McKiernan and Cathal McHugh. In the other quarter-final, Ryan O’Rourke and Ruairí O’Rourke scored 0-7 and 0-3 respectively for Fenagh. Aughawillan and Glencar Manorhamilton will contest the SFC relegation this Saturday.

Meanwhile, Nicola Brennan’s first game in charge of Melvin Gaels ended in a 1-7 to 1-10 IFC defeat to Aughavas. The appointment of the former Sligo ladies football captain Nicola Brennan as manager last week made national headlines.

Despite the loss, the Gaels progress to a quarter-final against Bornacoola next weekend.
