Kerry made a winning start to their Munster U20 football championship campaign last night by handing Waterford an emphatic 2-27 to 0-10 defeat in Lemybrien.
Paddy Lane and Daniel Kirby helped the Kingdom register the first six points of the game Phase 2 Round 1 encounter unaswered before Joe Brennan’s free got the home side off the mark in the 11th minute.
Kerry pushed their lead up to a dozen points before Ronan Carroll hammered in the game’s first goal three minutes before the break as his side moved towards a 1-16 to 0-4 half-time lead.

Gearoid White would have the ball in the back of the Deise net again five minutes into the restart and, from there, the points of Carroll, Dara Stack and Ben Kelliher would see the holders breezing to a 23-point win in the end.
In Quilty, Cork needed a late point from Sean O’Leary to snatch a 1-10 to 1-10 draw against hosts Clare.
Evan Cahill’s goal midway through the first-half had helped the Banner lads to go on all square at the break (1-3 to 0-6), but they’d conceded a Danny Miskella goal seven minutes into the second-half and the Rebels held the lead until Sean Fennell backed up a free with a two-pointer in the 46th minute.
