Castletownbere are set to name former Kerry defender Gavin Crowley as their new premier intermediate football manager.

The 2022 All-Ireland SFC winner will succeed Ian Murphy, according to a report in The Echo. Andrew O’Sullivan and Lorcan Harrington took temporary charge of the West Cork outfit last Sunday when they opened their Division 2 League campaign with a 1-12 to 3-11 defeat to Béal Átha’n Ghaorthaidh.

It will be the Templenoe clubman’s first step into club management at the age of just 32. While Crowley didn’t feature in Kerry’s 2022 All-Ireland SFC final victory over Galway, he started the drawn final against Dublin three years earlier and will hope to bring that experience to bear in his new role with the Beara club.
