Loughrea midfielder Cullen Killeen has been cleared to play in tomorrow’s All-Ireland club senior hurling championship final following a successful appeal to the Disputes Resolution Authority (DRA) last night.
Killeen was red carded in the late stages of the Galway champions’ semi-final victory over Slaughtneil last month after the 19-year-old was cited for a striking offence on Brendan Rodgers by referee Johnny Murphy.
Loughrea appealed the sending off to both the Central Hearings Committee (CHC) and Central Appeals Committee (CAC), but were unsuccessful in both.
It meant that the appeal to the DRA on Friday night was the club’s last port of call and, after seeing his red card overturned, Killeen is now available to play in Sunday’s All-Ireland decider at Croke Park (throw-in 1.30pm).
