Louth senior football champions Naomh Máirtin are on the lookout for a new senior manager following the departure of Mattie Rice and his backroom team.
Rice took over the reins at the beginning of 2025 and led the Monasterboice club to only their third-ever Joe Ward Cup in late October when they powered to a 1-18 to 1-11 victory over Newtown Blues in the final at Drogheda. Naomh Máirtin’s recent Leinster club SFC quarter-final loss to Portarlington proved to be his last game in charge.
Rice holds the distinction of being the only man to win Louth SFC and SHC titles as a manager, having previously guided the St Fechin’s hurlers to championship glory.
“All at Naomh Máirtin GFC would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to the outgoing management team who led us to a third SFC title in 2025 and who are stepping down ahead of the upcoming season,” the club posted online.
“We sincerely thank & wish the very best to Mattie, Sean, Ray, Mark, Mickey, Dalton, Ged & Graham for their commitment & the achievement of winning the SFC title in 2025.”
In a separate post, Naomh Máirtin said: “We are now inviting applications for Senior Men’s Manager/Coach to lead the County Champions for the 2026 season.
“Applications can be sent to [email protected] by Friday 12th December 2025.”
