Colm Boyle has enjoyed a memorable year in football, helping Mayo to a historic All-Ireland senior championship title as part of the management team before celebrating county success with Davitts yesterday.

The former Mayo defender was part of the Davitts side that defeated Ballinrobe 0-23 to 0-17 at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park to claim the Mayo intermediate championship title and secure a return to senior football.

It was Davitts’ first intermediate crown since 2011, with Boyle bringing his experience and leadership to a team that finished the campaign with silverware.

A four-time All-Star who made 120 senior appearances for Mayo, Boyle retired from inter-county playing duty in 2021 but has remained closely involved in the game.

His role in Mayo’s historic Sam Maguire Cup triumph this summer added another major achievement to an already distinguished career.

Now, at 40, he has helped deliver another special occasion for his club, capping a remarkable year with All-Ireland and county championship success.
