Westmeath ace Senan Baker’s late goal sealed a 1-25 to 3-11 victory for Galway Boston over Padraig Pearses Chicago in yesterday’s USGAA senior football championship final.

There was no shortage of inter-county talent on display at either side the Irish Cultural Centre in Canton, Massachusetts, with Baker’s Westmeath team mate Dan Scahill also representing the Boston champions for whom Galway’s Cathal Sweeney also lined out as well as Kildare trio Shea Ryan, Callum Bolton and Darragh Swords.

Caragh native Swords would be named ‘Man of the Match’ for the final by Clubber.ie.

Included in the Chicago champions’ lineup was last year’s Young Footballer of the Year Finbarr Roarty and his fellow Donegal man Niall O’Donnell, while Leitrim’s Paul Honeyman and Roscommon quartet Eoin Colleran, Conor Ryan, John McManus and Eoin Ward were also in the Padraig Pearses side.

Tyrone man Gavin Potter netted Pearses’ third goal of the decider, but it wouldn’t be enough as Galway Boston saw out what was a comfortable win in the end with this goal from Baker (watch below) as they claimed the North American senior football title for the first time.
