Padraig Pearses would appear to be hellbent on knocking local rivals and All-Ireland club SFC finalists St Brigid’s off their perch in Roscommon after adding Alan Flynn to their management team.

Flynn, who guided Galway to All-Ireland U21FC titles in 2011 and ’13, and also worked as senior football coach with Clare, Kildare and Offaly in recent years, has been appointed as Pearses’ new head coach. He will work alongside newly-appointed manager Niall Murray, who took over from Frank Canning before Christmas.

"He was manager and coach of the Galway U21 teams that won All-Ireland U21 titles in 2011 and 2013, and has also served as senior football coach with Clare, Kildare and Offaly in recent years," the south Roscommon club said on social media.

"At club level, Alan has coached and managed teams across Galway, Mayo and Leitrim, leading numerous squads to success and progression within those counties."
