Delaney the hero as St Eunan's claim Donegal SHC crown

St Eunan’s secured their third Donegal senior hurling championship title after a dramatic 1-18 to 1-17 extra-time victory over Setanta at O’Donnell Park on Saturday evening.

The Letterkenny side dominated the first-half and led 0-12 to 0-3 at the break, with Peter Kelly hitting seven points.

Setanta then produced a stunning comeback, scoring 1-8 without reply to level the game at 0-14 to 1-11 and force extra-time. Oisín Marley was central to the comeback, contributing five points.

The sides remained level until midway through the second period of extra-time, when Marley and Gavin Gilmore put St Eunan’s two ahead.

Setanta pushed for a late equaliser, but St Eunan’s substitute Fearghal Delaney struck a dramatic stoppage-time goal to seal the title for Chris McAuley’s men.
