Jason Gillane struck a hat-trick of goals as Patrickswell kept their hopes of progression to the Limerick senior hurling championship quarter-finals alive with a 4-23 to 2-18 win over Garryspillane in Fedamore last night.

Gillane’s first two goals proved the difference between the sides at half-time (2-12 to 1-9), and Declan O'Grady's men would push on in the second-half to up their advantage as county stars Aaron Gillane, Diarmaid Byrnes and Cian Lynch, who combined for a dozen points over the hour, were to the fore for them.

Hugh Flanagan, scorer of a first-half penalty, finished with a personal tally of 1-11 for Garryspillane, but they’d see the game killed off after late goals by Patrick Kirby and Jason Gillane hit their net.

Meanwhile, Mungret St Paul's edged closer to the knockout stages of the John Daly Cup race with a 2-20 to 2-16 win against Adare in Clarina.

Mark O’Brien and Liam Lynch fired in first-half goals, with Willie Griffin netting one at the other end, as Mungret led by 2-9 to 1-8 at the interval.

In the second-half, the scores of O’Brien, Lynch and Fintan Fitzgerald kept Adare at bay, with four points separating the sides come the full-time whistle.
