Armagh are set to be without Niall Grimley for the early part of their 2026 campaign.

The 2024 All-Ireland SFC winner, who helped his club Madden to a first-ever Armagh SFC title in October, is taking an extended break from the inter-county scene, according to Belfast Live.

His absence is another blow to the Orchard County who have lost Stefan Campbell to retirement, while Rory Grugan, Aidan Forker, Ben Crealey and Barry McCambridge are also unlikely to be available when the new season gets underway against Tyrone – who will also be Armagh’s Ulster SFC preliminary round opponents – in the opening round of the Dr McKenna Cup on Friday, January 2.
