Sallins (Kildare) are Leinster club intermediate football champions after scoring a 2-11 to 2-4 win over Tubberclair (Wesmeath) at Cedral St Conleth's Park this afternoon.

Cian Grimes and James Dalton netted goals in the closing 10 minutes for the Kildare champions in Newbridge to put a seal on their club’s provincial title triumph.

Sallins ran up an 0-6 to 0-1 lead after 15 minutes of this decider, with a free from Grimes on the eve of half-time leaving half a dozen between the teams when they went in at the interval.

Tubberclair would have the wind advantage for the second-half, making the perfect restart with a Daire O'Connor goal and they’d have the ball in the net again in the 43rd minute via Matthew Whittaker.

The Westmeath champions’ second major made it a one-point game (0-9 to 2-2) and Paul Keegan would level things up with 11 minutes to go before Sallins got a timely goal through Grimes two minutes later.

The home side added three more points prior to Dalton fisting to the net and cementing Leinster glory for Sallins in the process.
