Rory O’Connor lived up to his reputation as a sports all-rounder with an outstanding performance in the VAFA Division 2 Men’s Grand Final last weekend.
The former Wexford dual player was named as ‘Best on Ground’ in the 2026 VAFA Division 2 Men’s Grand Final. The VAFA Division 2 Men’s is a high-level amateur Aussie Rules competition in Victoria where O’Connor has been based since St Martin’s run to last year’s All-Ireland club SHC semi-final. His first cousin Barry O’Connor spent four years playing AFL with Sydney Swans and Greater Western Sydney Giants.
St Martin’s involvement in the Wexford SHC semi-final and Wexford SFC final over the next two weekends has inevitably given rise to speculation that O’Connor could return home to assist them.
Is there anything Rory O'Connor can't do? Remember he was as good at football underage as hurling Fair to say he'll be in good shape of he come home for St Martin's. https://t.co/bGhud45svO
