Cork captain Ian Maguire is contesting a proposed two-match ban arising from his sending off against Meath last Sunday.

The Echo is reporting that the midfielder will appear before the Central Hearings Committee tonight in the hope of having his suspension overturned. Maguire was dismissed on a straight red card in the 56th minute of Cork's 1-23 to 1-21 victory at Páirc Uí Rinn by Cavan referee Conor Dourneen for 'striking with force', which carries a two-match ban.

If the suspension is upheld, the St Finbarr's clubman will miss the Allianz Football League Division 2 table-toppers' next two games against Derry and Kildare.
