Ardee St Mary’s are set to play Newtown Blues in the knock-out stages of the Louth senior football championship following their win over Geraldines last night (Thursday).
The defending champions recorded an emphatic 2-20 to 0-14 victory in Darver where they bagged both of their goals in the first-half.
Ciaran Keenan and Daire McConnon raised the green flags as the holders went in at the break up by 2-7 to 0-10 and introduced Louth star Tommy Durnin off the bench for the second-half.
Carl Gillespie and Tiernan Markey helped to keep the scoreboard ticking over for Cathal Murray’s side as they won out by a dozen points in the end and now look forward to a showdown with 23-time champions Newtown Blues for a place in the semi-finals.
The other quarter-finals down for decision will see Naomh Máirtín playing St Patrick’s while Dundalk Gaels face St Fechin’s and Dreadnots taking on Cooley Kickhams.
