Liam Cahill says it never entered Tipperary's thought process that Kilkenny would look for intervention from the GAA following the controversial end to the two counties’ All-Ireland SHC semi-final meeting.
Confusion reigned over the final scoreline in last Sunday’s epic battle between the teams at Croke Park, which Tipp won by 4-20 to 0-30 – a scoreline that the GAA had to confirm later that evening after the scoreboard had read 4-21 to 0-30 in the stadium at full-time.
Thinking they had been trailing by three points when in fact it was only two, Kilkenny went for goals in the closing stages of the game and it was thought afterwards they may lodge an objection to the result.
However, the Cats did not object and Cahill was quick to praise them this week at Tipperary’s press night for their All-Ireland final against Cork on July 20th.
"They have been really admirable and respectful in their approach to it," he is quoted saying by RTE Sport.
"We have huge respect for Kilkenny in Tipperary. That was never something that entered our thought process whatsoever, that Kilkenny would look to try and change the result in the boardroom.
"I’d like to think that if the shoe was on the other foot, we’d do the same thing in Tipperary."
