St Brigid’s made it two wins from two in the Roscommon senior football championship by seeing off Western Gaels on a 2-14 to 1-7 scoreline in Tulsk yesterday evening.

The defending champions fell 0-3 to 0-1 behind early on before back-to-back points from Ben O’Carroll brought them level and a Charlie O’Carroll goal would surge them in front come the 19th minute.

Ruaidhrí Fallon added a two-pointer ahead of Western Gaels winning a penalty which Finbarr Cregg converted, but Conor Hand would cancel it out with another goal for the holders that had the scoreboard reading 2-7 to 1-3 at the break.

Robbie Dolan and Brian Derwin increased the St Brigid’s lead early after the change of ends and the scores kept coming as Billy McDonnell rounded off their winning tally in the 52nd minute.

Meanwhile, Castlerea St Kevin’s were 1-14 to 1-6 winners over Elphin in Rockfield.

John Curran struck a goal in the first-half which helped Castlerea to lead by 1-9 to 1-1 at half-time, with the same player adding frees in the second-half to put a seal on the victory.
