Dingle are All-Ireland club senior football champions for the first time after coming out on top against St Brigid’s (0-23 to 1-19) in an extra time thriller at Croke Park.
Mikey Geaney was the hero for the Kerry side in the end as his point in the second minute of injury-time proved the difference in a fantastic contest which, in truth, neither team deserved to lose.
Winners of this competition in 2013, St Brigid’s looked to had done enough in the added periods, which wing back Ruaidhrí Fallon saved for them at the end of normal time, with scores from Shane Cunnane and sub Charlie O’Carroll putting them up by 1-19 to 0-20 with three minutes remaining.
However, Tom O’Sullivan drove forward twice and registered back-to-back points to level things up once more before Geaney landed the winner which sees Kerry completing a clean sweep of All-Ireland club senior, intermediate and junior football championship titles for the season.
Dingle saw a brilliant start to this decider, which moved them 0-5 to 0-1 ahead, wiped out as their Roscommon counterparts got motoring with a Cunnane two-pointer and a couple of late points in the half from Bobby Nugent (one free) had them holding a 0-9 to 0-7 advantage at the break.

Mark O’Connor’s two-pointer six minutes into the resumption squared things ahead of the Connacht champions netting the game’s only goal via a punched effort from Fallon three minutes later.
Playing in their club’s first Andy Merrigan Cup decider, Pádraig Corcoran’s men would move into the lead again thanks to the scores of Dylan Geaney and skipper Paul Geaney and looked to get over the line with a couple of Tadhg de Brún points.
Cunnane saw a point erased by Paul Geaney in injury-time, leaving the margin at two when Fallon produced a sublime effort from just beyond the arc with the outside of his boot to save extra time for St Brigid’s (0-17 to 1-14).
Carrying the momentum, Anthony Cunningham’s side landed the first two scores of the added periods via that man Fallon, with the second being a carbon copy of his normal time equaliser, and while Dingle would get back level early in the second period, the title looked like slipping away once Cunnane’s point was backed up by O’Carroll.
However, O’Sullivan showed tremendous spirit to burst through twice and even things up for the last time ahead of Geaney grabbing the winner on a historic day for the men from the peninsula.
