It’s the end of an era at St Tiarnach’s Park in Clones following the retirement of long-serving scoreboard operator Terry Lennon.

The Clones clubman had managed the scoreboard – which was upgraded last year – since 1992. He kept the score of over 35 Ulster SFC finals and replays at the spiritual home of Ulster football.

Paying tribute to Terry, Monaghan GAA said: “Farewell to club volunteer and St Tiarnach’s Park scoreboard operator Terry Lennon.

“Clones GAA clubman Terry has managed the scoreboard on many major match days since 1992, including more than 35 Ulster finals and replays at the iconic St Tiarnach’s Park. A native of Latton, Terry has given more than 50 years of service to the club. He began his football career with Latton O’Rahilly’s before transferring to Clones in 1970.

“He was a member of the Junior League-winning team of 1973 and the Junior double-winning team of 1975. Terry later moved into coaching and, alongside Eamon Kelly (RIP), enjoyed great success.

“The club is immensely proud of Terry’s contribution and wishes him every happiness in his retirement.”
