This afternoon’s Ulster club SFC semi-final between Newbridge (Derry) and Scotstown (Monaghan) at O’Neills Healy Park has been abandoned at half-time due to adverse weather conditions.
Referee Joe McQuillan deemed the pitch unplayable for the second-half and took the decision to call off the game in the interest of the players safety.
Scotstown went in at half-time leading by 1-4 to 0-3, with Mattie Maguire having netted the Monaghan champions' goal after 13 minutes.
Newbridge narrowed down their deficit to two points before Rory Beggan’s two-pointer in injury-time sent David McCague’s men in with a four-point advantage at the half.
As the heavy rain continued to pour down at the Omagh venue, the game came increasingly under threat and, after inspecting the pitch's surface at the break, Cavan official McQuillan took the decision to call it off on the grounds of player safety concerns.
A meeting of the Ulster CCC is set to take place later this evening to decide the details of the re-fixture.

Scotstown v Newbridge is off at HT postponed due to weather - Ref Joe McQuillan brought a ball out and hopped it on a particularly mucky part of the Omagh surface before making the call

Scotstown were up 1-04 to 0-03 at HT - they'll have to go again, presumably next week. #GAA pic.twitter.com/s0K3YS6iOA
