David Moran has brought the curtain down on his glittering football career.
The midfield colossus retired from Kerry duty at the beginning of 2023 and has now decided to call time on his days in the Kerins O’Rahilly’s jersey as well.
Moran represented the Kingdom with distinction over a 14-year period, during which he won three All-Irelands, four Allianz Leagues, 10 Munster SFC titles and two All-Stars. He also won a Munster club SFC medal with his beloved club in 2022 and gave an incredible display in O'Rahilly's subsequent All-Ireland semi-final loss to Kilmacud Crokes.
In a glowing tribute posted online, Kerins O'Rahilly's said: "From Strand Road to the hallowed turf of Croke Park, David Moran graced Gaelic football with a presence that was as commanding as it was inspirational. Over three remarkable decades, he stood tall – literally and figuratively – among the finest to ever wear the green and gold, and the cherished blue and white of Kerins O’Rahilly’s.
"Off the field, David has always carried himself with humility and grace – a credit to his family, his club, and his county. The proud son of Kerry, and of the great Ogie before him, David has written his own chapter in the Moran footballing legacy – one filled with courage, skill and passion.
"From the stands, he will now support those he once inspired, shoulder to shoulder with his beloved Sinead, and his two biggest fans, Eli and Ivy."
