Cork ace Conor Corbett has suffered another injury setback with confirmation of a third cruciate ligament injury.

The Clyda Rovers forward sustained the injury on Wednesday night during his club’s Group 3 championship opener against Kilshannig in Charleville.

Cruel fortune for the man who captained the Rebel County to All-Ireland minor glory in 2019 as this is repeat of the injury he picked up previously not once but twice – in 2021 and 2024.

Already with three points to his name, Corbett went down when twisting his knee after landing awkwardly in the aftermath of netting for Clyda at the end of a brilliant team move. He played on but subsequent tests have confirmed the all-too-familiar news.

Only last month, he played a key role coming off the bench in the Leesiders’ magnificent All-Ireland SFC Round 2A victory over Donegal in Ballybofey. Corbett also subsequently featured in Cork’s quarter-final defeat to Mayo at Croke Park.
