Longford GAA will be making its proposed Centre of Excellence available to other sports.
Planning permission will be sought early in the New Year for the development on a 36-acre site adjacent to Glennon Brothers Pearse Park which is fully paid-for thanks to Croke Park grants and fundraising by Club Longford. However, more funding will be required to pay for the development.
“We're hoping to put a state-of-the-art community facility in place for all codes,” Longford GAA chairman Derek Fahy told Shannonside Radio,
“I'm open to approaches from all codes at the moment. I'm certainly not just tying it down to the GAA.
“Hopefully over the next couple of weeks, we'll be in a position to possibly go for planning permission in the first quarter of 2026, which is a fantastic time to be involved with Longford GAA,” the former inter-county referee added.
