Seaan Elliott helped himself to a 2-6 first-half haul as Dunloy booked their Antrim SHC semi-final berth.
The county man was taken off at the break with his side leading St John’s by ten points, 3-10 to 0-9. Classy Cú Chulainns ended up winning Saturday evening’s Round Three, Group Two clash at Corrigan Park by 5-23 to 3-19 to confirm their place in the semi-finals in four weeks’ time.
Eoin O’Neill (two) and Luke McKerran got the other three Dunloy goals. Beaten finalists in last year’s Antrim SHC, Dunloy also have a senior football championship quarter-final to look forward to against St Brigid’s next weekend.
Unbeaten prior to last night, St John’s remain in the SHC, advancing to a quarter-final as group runners-up, where they will face the third-placed team from Group One, which will be the winners of this afternoon’s meeting of O’Donovan Rossa and Carey Faughs. Holders Cushendall and Loughgiel also face off on Sunday to determine who tops the group and progresses directly to the last four.
