McKenna helps Brisbane Lions complete AFL three-peat

Tyrone’s Conor McKenna has added another AFL Premiership medal to his collection after helping Brisbane Lions complete a three-peat at the MCG.

McKenna kicked a superb second-quarter goal as the Lions came from 17 points down to beat Fremantle by 14.12 (96) to 12.17 (89) in front of 100,023 fans.

The 2021 All-Ireland winner with Tyrone became just the second player after Kerry’s Tadhg Kennelly to win both a Celtic Cross and an AFL Premiership when Brisbane triumphed in 2024.

Brisbane sealed their sixth AFL title with a dramatic late surge, scoring four goals in the final four minutes to deny Fremantle their first Premiership.

McKenna, who won the AFL Goal of the Year earlier this season, produced another big moment on the biggest stage as the Lions matched their 2001-03 three-peat.
