Ballygunner clinched their second All-Ireland club senior hurling championship title this afternoon with a 1-20 to 1-14 victory over Loughrea at Croke Park.
The 12-in-a-row Waterford champions found another gear in the second-half to see off their Galway counterparts and triumph to the coveted Tommy Moore Cup for the first time since their maiden success of 2022.
The Gunners had been 0-9 to 0-7 ahead at headquarters when Darren Shaughnessy struck the decider’s first goal to surge Loughrea in front, but scores from Kevin Mahony and Pauric Mahony (free) ensured that Jason Ryan’s men would hold a 0-12 to 1-8 lead at the half.

Tiernan Killeen (free) levelled things within four minutes of the restart before Mikey Mahony got in for Ballygunner’s goal in next attack and, from there, the margin between the teams started to widen.
Conor Sheahan, Pauric Mahony (free), Kevin Mahony and Mark Hartley all shot over points that made it 1-16 to 1-11 with a dozen minutes remaining.
Jamie Ryan and Killeen pulled back scores for Loughrea before Pauric Mahony rounded off the Gunners’ tally in injury-time as they ran out six-point winners to the All-Ireland crown.
