Ballymun Kickhams recorded their first win in this year’s Dublin senior football championship by handing Castleknock a comprehensive 1-19 to 0-11 defeat at Parnell Park yesterday evening.
Having dominated from the early stages, Dillon Keating’s 17th minute goal saw Kickhams move towards a commanding 1-11 to 0-4 lead at half-time.
Paddy Small extended the Ballymun lead inside the opening minute of the restart and Keating would add a two-pointer in the next attack.
Dublin star Ciaran Kilkenny, Rob Shaw and Conor Chawke pulled back points for Castleknock, but they were only consolation as Cameron McCormack and Alan Hubbard helped to round off the winning tally for Ballymun.
The latter SFC clash in the capital saw Kilmacud Crokes coasting to a 2-24 to 0-11 victory over St Jude’s at Parnell Park.
A repeat of the 2021 final, Crokes got off to a flying start via Darragh Dempsey’s seventh minute goal and former Dublin ace Paul Mannion would send over five points from play as they held a 1-11 to 0-5 advantage at the break.
Galway star Shane Walsh added a goal for last year’s runners up after the change of ends, with more points from Mannion and the scores of Dara Mullin, Dempsey and Paddy O’Connor helping secure their side a second win in succession.
