Ballygunner and Clonlara will meet in the Munster Club SHC final.

Pauric Mahony posted 0-11 as three-in-a-row chasing Ballygunner survived a late scare at the TUS Gaelic Grounds to repeat last year’s semi-final victory over Na Piarsaigh. The Waterford champions held a slender 0-7 to 0-6 lead at the break before upping the ante in the second half with six unanswered points from Mahony, Ronan Power and substitute Harry Ruddle.

But an injury-time goal from Adrian Breen made it a one-score game before Mahony sent over a late free to seal Ballygunner’s place in the decider on a 0-16 to 1-9 scoreline.

In the other semi-final at FBD Semple Stadium, Diarmuid Stritch scored a 66th minute winner to hand Clonlara a dramatic 0-23 to 1-19 victory over 13-man Kiladangan. The Clare U20 was due to be substituted moments earlier, only for Clonlara manager Donal Madden to change his mind at the last second.

It was a heartbreaking defeat for Kiladangan who battled manfully after losing goal-scorer Dan O’Meara and Sean Hayes to straight red cards in the second half.  Billy Seymour hit 0-11 for the Tipp champions who led by two points in injury-time before Clonlara snatched victory from the jaws of defeat with late scores from Aidan Moriarty, Cian Moriarty and Stritch.
